The Inspiration
The Venetian masquerade has a rich history dating back to the 12th century. During Carnival, Venetians wore elaborate masks to conceal their social classes, allowing nobles and commoners to mingle anonymously. Masks became an integral part of Venetian culture, with various designs indicating different professions or social statuses. By the 18th century, masquerade balls had become extravagant events, featuring music, dance, and intrigue.
